Abstract

Mindanao conflict occurs mainly due to the seizure of interests and power which originated from primordial matters. This primordial problems become complicated because the Moro people (Muslims) confront with the majority of Filipinos (Catholic), which dominates the government. The emergence of resistance movements in the southern Philippines region of Mindanao has a goal to liberate Muslim communities from the government of the Philippines. The resolution of the conflict in Mindanao is unlikely because of the differences existed, as well as a willingness to resolve these conflicts from both sides. Compromise often does not happen because neither side wants to budge. To that end, it should be made a special measures to resolute the conflict in Mindanao. This article will look at how the steps towards peace between the government with the Bangsamoro from the era of President Benigno Aquino, as well as before.
