Abstract

The development of information and communication technology today has brought many changes in the international world. In the current era of globalization, the unlimited access to information has made a significant change in many ways. The international relations world surely cannot be separated from the impact of this progressive development of information and communications technology. The use of the internet has made the talks between heads of state or representatives of the countries more possible even if the parties concerned are not in the same place. That means the internet has made diplomacy more efficient in terms of time and cost. Therefore, the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia seeks to establish a formal means of communication which can ensure the accuracy of all Indonesia’s diplomatic activities and foreign policy-related datas and informations, namely by creating the official portal www.deplu.go.id to implement the effort of virtual diplomacy.
